Ice-cream, 1st House & Incan Ruins
We arrived in Ollantaytambo late in the afternoon after catching a bus from Cusco at around 10am. We checked in, got coconut ice-cream from the delicious place next door and headed off for a quick tour of the city.
Edith (our GAdventures CEO) showed us around for 15 minutes or so, taking us to one of the first houses in the town, which was kind of creepy with the alter but interesting to see how people originally lived. There were heads of Guinea Pigs running around and creepy penis looking objects on the alter.
Following the house, we climbed up one of the mountains and checked out the Incan ruins, along with amazing views of the city and other Incan ruin sites on the opposite mountain. We weren’t able to see some of the ruins because they closed at 5pm, but we were happy with what we were able to see.
We returned back to the hotel for a nap and then went shopping for the of our last gear for the Inca Trail – beef jerky, rain ponchos and bin bags.
We went to a shit restaurant near the hotel, we were dissapointed because there were a lot of restaurants around and it was our last meal were the Inca Trail. The only thing that made the place better was the fact we got to play FIFA 11. (Perth Glory lost to Bristol City 2-0).
